I tend to think that I am, or that James and I are, slightly unlucky. Whenever something good happens, something really bad comes along. For example, our cat getting really sick a week before the wedding, right at a point in time when we had no extra funds to pay for extra cat food, let alone a $600 remedy. Poor baby. (Don’t worry, we paid for it)

I got yelled at at work on Friday. Not my idea of fun, but I will accept the responsibility for it. I dropped the ball, whatever, but is that reason to yell at me? Like I am your child and I spilled juice on the brand new carpet? This guy didn’t know me, and yet he was comfortable enough to yell at me? What a jerk! I felt horrible afterwards. I’m sorry but being yelled at hurts my feelings. I know that I should shrug it off but I can’t. I wanted to run and hide. I wanted to call in sick Monday.

But, like my topic says, I have to take the good with the bad. If I believe that something bad will happen when something good comes along, then it must follow that something good will happen when something bad happens, right? Well, it’s true. The other day, I placed an order with amazon.com. I was so excited for my new books to come, that a few days later I went to check the status of my shipment. Was I amazed to find out that it was going to be delivered within 60 days?!! yes, I tell, I was. Long story short, I called customer service, the girl who answered had no help for me other than to cancel my order. So I did, with every intent on boycotting amazon forever, just because of the sheer stupidity I had to deal with on the phone. I got an email asking me for feedback on my service call. I told them that I was extremely disappointed and just wanted to know WHY it would take so long, but the girl had no help for me.

Well, Friday night after my ordeal at work, I got an email from Amazon saying, “we’re sorry, it was a computer error. If you replace your order we will give you a $10 credit for your troubles.” Yes!!!That was all it took to wipe my sorry away.

So, was that just a coincidence? It wouldn’t have happened if I hadn’t griped to amazon, that’s for sure. But I have to believe that this world isn’t just out to get me. Granted, I would rather not have the $10 credit if that meant I woulnd’t have to deal with the work incident. But we have to learn from our mistakes and move on. Hopefully, this guy will have moved on too.

I sound awfully positive don’t I? So strange… Needless to say, I will be using Amazon again.
