It’s hard to get back into the swing of things. Before I left, I was posting quite frequently. After 2+ weeks off, I can barely muster the energy to get on the computer.

Here’s a few pics of the PI I’d like to show you. All the rest are on our flickr account.

Californians would kill to have a view like this! We used to have to hike the 3 kilometers up, but now they have a road going straight to the house. But for old time sakes, we hiked up to the house. Unfortunately we didn’t realize that the sun sets at about 4:30, so it got dark really fast!

This is my grandmother’s house in Cebu. Way up in the mountains. They just got electricity up there a few years ago.. that was quite a shock. Coming up the mountain and seeing people turn on their lights and watching tv!

This house was built in 1898. And the stage was built the week before the big fiesta. My aunts wrote this play about my grandmother’s life, and we all read poems, in Visayan, for her. It was fun!

What was not fun was having the roosters crow from 4-10am.

Tuba!! Can you see the man in the coconut tree? Just hanging out on the fronds? He’s checking on the stocks of Tuba. It’s an alcoholic beverage made just from the syrup of the coconut flowers. They hang a bamboo stalk around it and let it ferment. 1 month – good. 3 month – vinegar. Let me say you can get very drunk on 3 month when you play “take-a-shot-if-you-don’t-get-100-on-your-karaoke-score”. Never played?

The view from the back of the house – the Cebu mountain jungle.

Back in Angeles City, by Clark AFB, which is no longer. This is where my parents got married.

I guess they don’t have codes that govern this kind of electricity usage

In 1991, Mt. Pinatubo erupted, causing the hasty removal of the Air Force. We abandoned Clark, and most of the buildings fell into disrepair. This was the hospital I was born in. It used to be a grand building. No longer.

The flag flying high at Jose Rizal National Park (a national hero).

Those are just a few of the pictures we took. I had a fabulous time. Can’t wait to go again. I definitely don’t want to wait another 13 years before I go again!

Just arrived stateside about two hours ago. I’ve been up for over 28 hours and going on less than 3 hours combined sleep. I cannot sleep on planes. We’re in Vegas, and we have to see some friends. Then I plan to sleep for the next 16 hours and make James drive all the way home. Can’t WAIT to get back to Cali. I miss my babies!

We’ve made it safe and sound to the Philippines! James says the weather is just like New Orleans. We’ve already had pancit and banana cue! It’s hot and muggy with rain scattered all about. My Aunt’s house has internet, can you believe it? Now if I could just figure out how to upload some pictures, we’d be gold.

I have been having a hard time coming up with titles lately. Even for my layout titles, I usually have to do massive brainstorming in order to come up with them.

Can you believe it, Anna? I finished your swap! Here’s a sneak and it’s going in the mail today! I had so much fun making these. I hope you like!

This is a picture of James’s cousin, Greg. This was when we last saw him, at our Wedding. He got a little tipsy on Champagne and jumped up to play us some “All Along the Watch Tower”. He’s an excellent guitarist. Not so much on the vocals, though. It was pretty funny.

And here are two albums I made a while ago but never posted. They’re not finished – I don’t know what to do with them yet.

I’ve had this castle for the longest time. Finally covered it.

This was from my Concroption kit I won at Unpubbed. I LOVE these daisy d’s papers.

Did I tell you all that I got a second part time job? I’m working at a box office for a certain theatre. So I can keep an eye on James, hahah. It’s fun. I’m learning a lot and it’s super easy and laid back. Tonight we had the big Filipino movie premiere of the Caregiver, starring Sharon Cuneta. It was crazy. The Flips were in full force tonight. I was starting to get a cold and now I’ve completely lost my voice. That hasn’t happened since 2006. Sigh. So no more talking for me.

peace out

Ugh, these past two weeks have been just awful. My uncle passed away, so I had to drive to Vegas to be with my family and attend the funeral. Without going into it too deeply, I’ll just say he was a wonderful man and I will miss him so much.

Added to that, my boss was sending me about 20 emails a day! Asking me to do this and that until finally I had to just say, “I am attending my uncle’s funeral – can it wait?” Well, not in those words exactly, but she got the hint. She is the most stressful person I have ever met and it takes all my energy not to get sucked into that, but last week was tough. I would have lost my mind completely if James hadn’t been available for a crazed phone call. All I can say is thank God James knows computers and all that crap~

But I’m off again. Michelle is flying me out so we can crop all weekend. I’ll get onto the computer only to post my layouts as we make ’em, but that’s it. Super excited!

Other than that, just getting ready for our trip to the Philippines. It’s my Lola’s 90th birthday in July and everyone is going back to celebrate. Have to pay for the expensive tickets (love you Large Tax Return – hate you Peak Season)

One of the things I love about LA is going to the premiers. Last Saturday Rachel and I went to the Alex to the ABS – CBN premier of A Love Story, starring Aga Mulach, Maricel Soriano and Angelica Panganiban.

It was an absolute madhouse. It was really strange to see that many Filipinos in Glendale. The first showing was sold out, and the line to get in was a block long. But when the actors came out! Oh my god, the hysteria.

The movie was pretty good. I struggled a little with the language, but I got the basic gist and was able to enjoy the movie without asking too much for translations. Plus, most of the movie was crying and love scenes. But it was pretty good. I don’t want to spoil it for anyone because there is a cool little twist! Can I just say?? Aga is SO CUTE!!!!

It pays to know people: James took us back stage and we hung out like groupies, until finally we just asked if they would let us into Aga’s dressing room to get a picture. He is so nice! And Rachel is a complete stalker. Talking to him about how she went to his house in New York and met him in Riverside. I tell you, she would sell her kids to be with this man. Afterwards, I called my mom and dad to tell them. It was quite a laugh!!  But just in case you don’t believe me, here’s pictures. Rachel had James take pictures like he was paparazzi, she’s so silly.

Don’t I look payat?? hehe

What did I tell you, Rachel is a total stalker.  Can you see me in the background, blocking the door so security can’t come in?? hahaha
