I am having a slight disagreement with James here. He thinks I have SOOO many shoes. I will be the first to say that I am not a clothes horse or a shoe horse by any means and he doesn’t believe me! If given the choice to spend my money on crafting goods or shoes, I will ALWAYS choose crafting.
I was on the phone with someone at work and she told me that “at last count” she had 87 pairs. What the hell? So I counted mine, and this includes flip flops, gym shoes and work shoes, and I have 34.
Please, ladies, help me out here. I don’t think I have a lot. Some of them I don’t even hardly wear, but since I have so few, I keep them to keep my options open. How many pairs of shoes do you ladies have?
I would never have believed it. A few weeks ago I wouldn’t have agreed with that statement, but guess what folks, it’s true! It’s very exciting to have people over or go out with friends, meet new people. (The people who know me are shocked to be hearing this, I am sure) Granted, I am still not very comfortable at parties, but I’m sure it’ll grow on me.
I had a very busy weekend. Looking forward to relaxing tonight and catching up on some Heroes and blogging. I spent all day Sunday with Eleisha. We worked on our cards for out ATC group. I just got Eleisha to join so we were both very excited. This girl is so creative, a real artist.
Then we went to see “Mary Poppins” the sing along. So much fun, I cannot even tell you. I think we were the only ones in the audience fully participating, it was fantastic. Never realized how long that movie actually is (I think I used to do a lot of fast forwarding thru all the bank scenes back in the day) And it’s so crazy how many things I never got before because a) I couldn’t understand their Brittish when I was a little girl and b) there is a lot of adult humor in that movie. Eleisha and I were speculating that Bert and Mary actually had a “thing” going on, and whenever she would come down off her cloud (literally) they would hook up!!!
But Eleisha couldn’t get enough of me and invited me to see “Sunday in the Park with George” at the Freud. Such a great show. I cannot even tell you. Directed by Jason Alexander and starring Kelli O’Hara and GregoryNorth. They both did amazing jobs. I as familiar with, but didn’t really know the show, but now I am going to have to get the CD – I am such a huge fan of Mandy Patinkin and Bernadette Peters, so there’s no excuse not to get it. If you aren’t familiar with the show, it’s about George Seurat’s and his obsession with his famous painting, Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte. The play itself is very surreal, but amazing.
But Saturday I got a TON of scrapbooking done. Well, by my standards it was a lot. I am not a very fast scrapbooker and not sure what others out there would consider a ton. I’ll just say it. I made 4 pages. And 4 ATCs. ![]()
“Get involved” This is a letter I got from John Laesch after I contributed to his campaign in November. Personally signed, which I thought was remarkable, but unfortunately he didn’t win.

You can’t see my title very well, but it says “Wedded Bliss”. These are pics James took at my friends Sal & Susan’s wedding

And another picture that he took of their wedding
And there’s another one, but I was having problems with the scan, so I have to take a picture of that one. I’ll post it later.
Oh! And here’s this super cute tag I made for Brandy’s birthday present. I am going to make more of these because I love them!
My new craft room is finished at last! It took a while and there are still some adjustments to be made, but I am really happy with it! It’s going to be so much fun! Here are just a couple of pictures. Many thanks to Ikea!

There is a built in hutch that we used for office supplies and such, so I am slowly moving those things out and putting material and patterns and art supplies in.
I now have tons of floor space. Before, when Brandy would come over, we would have to squeeze ourselves in my old room…
My huge desk! Apollo loves being up here with me.
this is where I hang layouts that I want to keep out and atc’s that I get from my group that I really enjoy.
and how could I forget to show you my ikea boxes. All 5 of them, stained and organized. This is where I keep my ribbon, fibers, ink and miscellaneous items like tags and frames.
I have a tendency to listen to the same cd’s over and over again until they are so ingrained in my head that I will dream songs and wake up with songs in my head and…. well, you get the idea.
I mostly listen to indie rock. James likes to invest in new bands and most of the time I have no idea who I’m listening to, but I enjoy it. Sometimes, though, I just have a need to go back to my roots: musicals. It just feels so good to SING! I grabbed my West Side Story (original broadway cast recording, of course) cd and have been in heaven immersing myself in Tony and Maria.
What is it about this musical that is so… timeless. I mean, the setting is definitely 1957, but the story, the music, the lyrics. They never get old. If you’ve never heard Larry Kert sing “Maria” or “Something’s Comin’”, you’re missing out. His voice is quintessential 1950’s and it’s so beautiful. (it’s a shame his musical theatre career never really thrived) When he sings the line
around the corner, or whistling down the river
oh man, it is so exciting! And of course, there are the famous tritones that foreshadows their fates. And all the brass in the mambo sections.. I could go on and on and on.
I think my favorite part is right before the ballet when Tony convinces Maria to run away
T: I will take you away take you far far away out of here
far far away til the walls and the streets disappear
M: Somewhere there must be a place we can feel we’re free
somewhere there’s got to be someplace for you and for me
totally don’t know if those are the rights lyrics. going off of memory here.
So, I will continue to listen. For those of you who haven’t heard it yet or only know the movie version
you can buy it here. And I will listen and sing until the songs are so embedded in my head I won’t be able to think straight. Then I will retire it back to the shelf and listen to another musical. Say, Jesus Christ Superstar.
Ok, I finished my third card for Emily’s art journal challenge. I’m having so much fun coming up with interesting things to journal. This week was “I am..” I didn’t want to use a tried and true adjective like “loyal” or “shy” (although those are true). So this week, I am a fuddy duddy.

The back side says, “I don’t like going out. I’d rather stay at home w/ James and our cats. Crafting, watching TV, cleaning, hanging out. That’s my thing”.
This, of course, was prompted because last night I wanted to work on my craft room, but one of James’s friends, Boston, invited us to a party. I was like, “a party?? on a monday night? what the hell?” So we went and stayed out til 2am. I was so tired. But, the point is, even though I threw a fit, I had a great time.
I just don’t like going out. I am a fuddy duddy.
I love these fun little tests! Isn’t this hilarious? I LOVE Tori!
Here’s my card for Emily’s challenge. “What is powerful to you?” The first thing that came to me: Music. Music is very important to me. It’s what brought my husband and I together (way back in the day). It ties me to all my close friends, it was my whole world in college. Music has the ability to make you cry or laugh, all it takes is a few notes to move you.

Last night James and I went to the Gig in Hollywood (Out on a Wednesday?! A Worknight!?) I know, I normally would be in bed but I went to see my friend, Eleisha, play. She sounded amazing. She’s a tiny girl but don’t let her size fool you – her voice is powerful. She’s so funny on stage, too, with her little anecdotes (“my cousin Darla moved to LA and joined a cult. Here’s the song I wrote about it”) I have a link to her website on my sidebar. Check her out!
if you are reading this, Eleisha, I have “Jenny’s Still in June” in my head this morning. And I loved your new take on “Changing Tides”. James really liked “Darla” so congrats on the International Songwriting Competition!
Up next, Mary Poppins Sing Along at the El Capitan.
“Chim chiminey
Chim chiminey
Chim chim cher-ee”
I thought I would post a little wishlist. That way, if anyone out there (hint, hint – you know who you are) wanted to get me something just to say “i love you” they could have a place to start.

-these CUTE cards Love them!
